Thirteen year-old Monica sells roses in nightspots. She is surrounded by a group of fellow runaways and orphans that get by through robbery, prostitution, and drugs, mainly sniffing glue. When 10-year-old Andrea gets a beating, she runs away; however she eventually rejects life on the street and returns home. A hand-held camera presents to us an often forgotten population moving through the nighttime streets, where the glitter of Christmas decorations and an illuminated Madonna stand amid the squalor and poverty.
